Round Top General Store

For homemade fudge just like grandma’s, the Round Top General Store is a must stop. Proprietor Peggy Wood came to Round Top to shop for antiques in 1992. She found the Round Top General Store up for sale and ended up buying a very large antique indeed. “I bought it to preserve the old building, so no one would tear it down,” she said. Peggy makes close to twenty different types of fudge in the store these days, with each and every flavor being a true palatal delight. Located on the square, the General Store is open Wednesday to Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the antiques shows and on weekends throughout the rest of the year. Beth Anderson Fine Art

Beth Anderson is a painter who finds inspiration in nature. Beth is a master gardener and loves to paint bright still lifes with all sorts of flowers & sunflowers, tulips and orchids. Using her impressionistic style, she beautifully captures the dry red dirt roads and black gumbo fields of Central Texas. Beth interprets the little wooden painted churches of Fayette County, built by early settlers and lovingly tended to by their descendents. She finds inspiration in the log and stone structures that are restored and cared for in Round Top, Texas. These simple churches and buildings are made of natural materials and are a never ending source of creativity to her. The Texas landscape touches her imagination as she paints the wildflowers and trees of the lonesome prairies. Visit her gallery in Round Top, and on-line. Tel. 979-249-5962

Monique'’s Leather

Houston based dealer Elvy Blyer, of Monique'’s Leather, has been dealing in fine leather and cowhides for over forty years. Originally from Argentina, her family currently owns one of the largest tanneries in Brazil, where she journeys every few months to restock her fast-moving inventory. A regular exhibitor at the Houston Rodeo for over 30 years, Blyer comments that leather dealers at the Warrenton-Round Top market are very supportive of each other. “"There are a number fine dealers and they all support each other and each are unique in their own way,”" she notes. Her Brazilian leathers and hair-on hides have a distinct look which appeal to the discriminating decorator'’s eye. They also carry a line of leather purses, shoes and clothing, as well as quality furniture, all tailored from the leather they import from South American. Every item they carry is hand sewn and of the highest caliber. Located just behind the Chamber, on Hwy 237.
